Denison Animal Welfare Group (DAWG)

Listed below are the dogs and cats currently available for adoption or on stray-hold.  The dogs on stray-hold will be available if not claimed by owners.  Space at the City Pound is very limited and is further reduced by any city quarantines.  Adopting a dog or cat from DAWG potentially saves two lives -- the one you take home and the one who gets more time.

Dogs: The  adoption fee can vary (typically $60.00 but small puppies and other highly desirable dogs such as purebreds or lap dogs may be $100) and includes spay/neuter surgery and  age-appropriate vaccinations including Rabies, Bordetella and DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus). Dogs at the DAWG House are also treated for parasites, fleas/ticks and microchipped.  Fees subject to change.

**EMERALD DOGS** HAVE REDUCED ADOPTION FEES = $25 -- MUST BE IDENTIFIED AS AN EMERALD DOG IN THE DOG'S BIO.

Cats: The adoption fee can vary (typically $50.00) includes spay/neuter surgery, and FCVR, feline leukemia, and treatment for all internal and external parasites.

Animals cannot be released to adoptive families until they are spayed / neutered.

Our data is powered by Trackabeast animal rescue management software. Please check out this program is you are a rescue or small shelter. For larger rescues, have a look at iShelters. Tell them we sent you and DAWG will get 3 months of free service.

For dogs listed as being at the City Pound -look for this facility during their open hours.  This is the facility where you can claim your stray.

(Note - not a DAWG facility - the City of Denison contracts with the impound facility operator, however, all adoptions are now through DAWG, and the staff at Morton Street will not complete the adoption paperwork.  Animals cannot be released until they are spayed/neutered.)
