Thank you for your interest in D.A.W.G.

This site is provided to help bring awareness to the homeless animals of Denison, Texas so that they may find loving and deserving homes. The City of Denison does not have a "shelter."  The City operates an impound facility via a private contractor.

The Denison Animal Welfare Group is a collection of volunteers dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of pets in need, education, and access to low-cost spay/neuter / vaccination programs.

  • The DAWG currently receives NO FUNDING from any local, state or federal sources.

  • We rely on donations from caring, compassionate people and businesses.

  • We also seek and apply for grants.

  • We have no paid staff.

  • Our animals are cared for by volunteers.

We are located in Denison, Texas and serve the Texoma area.  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2014. (EIN 46-5190514).

The City of Denison requires animals be held 72 hours from intake before they become eligible for adoption or euthanasia. Owners wishing to claim their animals must go to the City Pound, 2500 W. Morton St., and pay the applicable fine. Go in person—do not rely on phone call to see if your animal is there!
